I was looking for an environment that provides a challenge and fosters learning. I found it in BOC’s business planning group. From the outset, I was exposed to senior management while working with cross-functional teams on projects ranging from understanding why a business was not delivering expected profits to developing complex financial and commercial structures for major capital investments and customer proposals. Getting that kind of broad experience gave my peers and I an opportunity to move on to a variety of functions in BOC, such as finance, product management, operations, and sales.

BOC is a demanding but truly rewarding employer. Before you can get too comfortable in a particular job, a new opportunity is offered to broaden your skills. In my six years with BOC, I've held four diverse and challenging roles in North America, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. I know of very few companies that would have given me that same breadth and depth of experience in such a short time.

Right now, I am a member of the senior management team that sets the overall business strategy for the North American division of BOC’s Process Gas Solutions line of business, where I’m specifically responsible for financial management. I am also responsible for MBA development within the business planning group – a role that includes attracting and developing new talent. It’s a role I take very seriously – if BOC is serious about meeting its own ambitious goals, it needs to ensure that it’s attracting and retaining the right people.
