BOC is a place where, if you have the drive and initiative to learn, people will be pleased to help and offer advice. Projects are challenging, interesting and always different – they offer employees regular opportunities to expand their knowledge base.

The engineering skills development program really gave me great exposure to the markets BOC serves, to each market sector’s specialties, and to understanding how the sectors work together to serve customers. I started out as a process engineer for BOC’s air separation units in order to learn about the core engineering involved in designing and constructing those large plants. Later, I moved to the hydrogen and synthesis gas area, where I was involved in both project proposals, project engineering, and management. I was required to support BOC’s operations and business development segments. My latest assignment requires setting up a pilot plant to test a technology that’s new to BOC. This latest job made me especially appreciate the importance in engineering of having both office and on-site work experience.
