I always look for challenging experiences that will make my
life a little more rewarding. In college, I chose chemical engineering not only
for the challenges it offered but because I thought it also would afford me a
variety of career opportunities. Because I really wanted to explore those career
options, I decided to enroll in Stevens Institute of Technology’s Cooperative Education program. One of
the best things about the program was that it gave me a great window into the
kinds of work experiences I might have with a future employer.
My work assignment with BOC was extremely gratifying. BOC
operates in an extremely competitive market and challenges its employees to
reach high performance standards. At the same time, the working environment was
friendly – I was able to learn a great deal from many experienced colleagues.
And although I was assigned a lot of responsibility, I also was guided every
step of the way by willing mentors who weren’t too busy to teach me how to
solve even small problems.
So when it came the time to apply for my first job after
college, BOC was my first choice. I joined the company because I had really
valued my previous work experience here and because I knew I would be exposed to
various areas within the company so I could see where I fit in best. BOC is a
great place for starting a career and for continuing to reach career goals.
