My initial assessment of BOC, after completing a summer internship in 2001,
was that it was a world-class organization, which hires first-rate employees and
offers a wealth of opportunities that help to advance an employee’s career.
After joining the company in 2002 as a full-time employee my views have only
been strengthened.
Even though I was coming straight out of business school, BOC allowed me to
work on an important new business project that was intended to improve the
operational efficiency of the steel industry. They gave me the latitude to
develop the business plan, target selected customer groups for pilot testing,
and determine the project’s financial viability.
I felt extremely flattered that BOC would value and trust a recent graduate’s
skills in such a manner and allow me to prove my worth with this organization.
That, combined with an open door management policy that encouraged me to seek
help at any stage of the project, convinced me that I’d made the right
decision. BOC is a people-oriented organization intent on helping employees
develop personally and professionally.
